DESTINATION IMAGINATION:
We had 4 Wildly Creative DI Teams represent Strafford School at the Regional Meet in Tilton NH, last Saturday.

Jody LaBrie coached the Rising Star Team, with team members: Ellie LaBrie, Haley Feegel, Megan Laverdiere, Madison Kriete, Libby Downer, Patrick Helm Lars Hogne and Alex Stover. Amy Morse also coached a Rising Star Team and her Team members were: Maggie Morse, Sarah Morse, Elizabeth Libbey, Olivia Buzzell, Turner Totten, Emma Zollman, Abbie Pelletier and Elizabeth Vermillion.

These teams had to build a structure out of newspaper and put on a newscast. Both teams did a wonderful job.

Chris Bane coached an elementary level team. Their challenge was called “You’re going to Flip”. Team members were Tanner Bane, Autumn Graham, Ethan Baker, Brian Downer, Maggie St. Germain, Molly Swansburg and Courtney Fritz. This team made incredible paper Mache puppets that came to life as Healthy Puppet and Unhealthy Puppet. Their story was very well portrayed by a family that chose to eat food from Junk Food Heaven. But, in the end, healthy food won out. During the presentation, a live visual art was constructed on the stage.

Trisha Baker and Erica Helm coached the other elementary level team. They also solved the challenge called “You’re going to Flip”. Team members were: Allison Barry, Kathleen Collins, Nik Sweeney, Zach Helm, Emily Ballard, Holly Magowan and Kaitlyn Hogue. They had to design and construct puppets, create a live visual art and present a story dramatizing how a character experiences a flip. This creative team earned the right to go on to the State Meet in Nashua, NH on March 27, 2010. Please come and cheer them on. Information will be at nh-di.org.

Everyone from Strafford School did a commendable job.
Congratulations to all these hardworking, creative children.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
First let me say that my first experience with a town meeting was overwhelmingly positive, deepening my faith in the democratic process. I want to say thank you to all those who supported and informed the voters, allowing those stakeholders the opportunity to make an informed vote, as well as the time needed to devote, to Wednesday night’s meeting. The letters, the phone calls, the babysitting and the word of mouth created an atmosphere that is difficult to parallel. I am proud to be the principal, proud of all of you and proud to be part of this incredible community.

With sincerity and thanks,
Jerry Gregoire

REMINDER:
Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour on Saturday night. Just think, it will be lighter in the evening!
